End of Year Thanksgiving

At the end of another church program and fiscal year, we pause to give thanks for all that God has done. These past 12 months have included many challenges, but God was faithful and his blessings were abundant.

Giving God Thanks For:

  • $200,000 of bills (housing, utilities, insurance, medical) paid by Ward Deacons for people in need.
  • 9,000 prayer requests from the bulletin tear-off prayed for by Deacon Prayer team.
  • 34 babies baptized or dedicated (20 baptized, 14 dedicated)
  • 25% growth in Sunday morning preschool attendance.
  • 21% increase in attendance in “Potter’s Wheel,” a program for adults with disabilities.
  • 1104 children at summer Vacation Bible School.
  • 960 different individuals participated in the newly launched Family Experience.
  • 200 children enrolled in the Ward Day Preschool.
  • Three new churches started: two in India and one in Mali.
  • 80 missionaries (42 units; 37 foreign, 5 local), plus 14 additional agencies.
  • 500 school backpacks packed with school supplies and given to kids in need.
  • 480 boxes of food collected for EACH Resource Fair.
  • Two houses purchased, renovated, and given as part of Motor City Makeover.
  • Three Red Cross blood drives this year.
  • Two new missionary couples sent out.
  • 1842 music lessons taught in the School of Fine and performing arts to 82 different students.
  • 72 people ranging in age from 1 to 70 participated in a disaster relief trip in Kentucky.
  • 67 small groups with close to 600 members.
  • 11 Sunday adult life groups with 550 people attending weekly.
  • 300+ adults taking Wednesday night classes.
  • 300+ women attending WOW Tuesday studies
  • 75 mothers of preschoolers participating in MOPS
  • 80 fathers and sons participated in Father/Son canoe trip in September.
  • 150 couples attended Valentines Dinner in February.
  • 300 women attended Girls Night Out in May.
  • 1,387 shoeboxes packed for Operation Christmas Child by Ward attendees (a 15% increase over the previous year).
  • 23 care ministry volunteers provide care for 400 home bound and nursing home members.
  • 382 regular children’s ministry volunteers.

    Congradulations on your retirement. I’ve really enjoyed your musical talent throughout the years & your benignant smile to everyone including me. Hope the Lord continues to bless & use you & Rich in all your endeavors.
